Stewart Barnes Obituary
He moved to Connecticut in 1964, and attended Fitch High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
He met and married the love of his life, Georgie Maurutis, in 1973, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Jeremy and Tommy (Christine) in Salem.
He was self-employed (Barnes Construction) as an excavating contractor.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, the Boy Scouts, watching baseball, fishing off his boat and hunting in Maine. He also enjoyed restoring and showing his 1963 Ford Falcon which won him many trophies. He was very proud of his two sons and loved spending time with his grandchildren, Alaina, Sarah and Gavin.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he leaves a sister, Candy Palmer, of North Stonington; and his brother-in-law Michael Maurutis (Carol) of Milford.
Services will be private for family.
