Tom had been a resident of the Essex area since 1966. In 1973, he started Hi-Rel Products in Essex, a micro electronics company. He was a successful businessman, a mentor to many, and his love of golf was legendary. More importantly, he was a devoted father, loving husband, and a fun grandfather.
He was the devoted father of Cathleen Jenkins and her husband, Scott, of Ivoryton; Carren D. Rogan and her husband, Patrick, of Wildwood, Mo., Thomas S. Dolan Jr. and his wife, Nicole, of Essex, and step father of Pamela Ellis of Boca Raton, Fla., and Todd B. Prentiss of Charlestown, R.I. Tom is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Marie, Alex, Michaela, Mollie, Julia, Maggie, Zach, Patrick, and Hanna; his sister, Maureen Smith of Tampa, Fla.; his brothers, Charles "Ted" Dolan of Lincoln, R.I., and Vincent Dolan of Jacksonville, Fla.
Tom was predeceased by his brother, William Dolan.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday from Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, Prospect St., Essex. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to Mercy High School, 1740 Randolph Road, Middletown CT 06457.

Dear Tom Jr and Carolyn:
It was with a great sense of loss when we heard of Tom’s death.
We wanted to let you know that you have our greatest sympathy, and our hearts are truly saddened.
Tom was more than just a wonderful person; he was always so kind and considerate to us that we always welcomed seeing him at every opportunity.
And, we know that his passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew him.
Tom will always remain within my heart, and we have included Tom and you in our daily prayers. May God give you strength.
I will forever miss his smile and cantankerous ways. I will forever cherish our arguments, mostly about nothing that mattered much, but gave us both much enjoyment. I will especially miss him at our industry show in two weeks. IMAPS will not be the same without him.
Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you.
With our deepest sympathy,
Respectfully, Jim and Shelleen Angeloni

To The Dolan Family,
I cannot tell you how sorry I was to learn of Tom's passing. Tom has been a dear friend for the last 30 years. I met Tom when I first started working in the Microelectronics Industry. It was a new industry for me and Tom was one of the first people to offer his help while I was going through the learning curve. It was so easy to like Tom, that we became friends very quickly and I will value that friendship always.
Hold on to the great memories that I am certain you all have and he will live in everyone's heart forever.
Sincerely,
Russ Whigham, E. Brookfield, MA

God's truth. Two days before Ted Dolan's call, out of the blue I was inspired to pray for Tom. And now he's gone. Just can't believe it. I should have known he was gone for the earth wobbled in the opposite direction. When he was with us, the world wobbled - just in a different direction. Tom was one of a kind. Outspoken, unique, caring, generous. How many memories from Pawtucket to Old Saybrook to Essex. From weekly visits to Padelford Street when we were kids where Grandparents Feeney were happy to see us come and happier to see us go, to the horses, to the Army, to business, to family, to the Christmas visits, to the cookouts. How the years did fly. Now he is gone and we will miss him enormously. There was just one Tom - now that's probably a blessing - and we were surely lucky to be in his presence. Prayers and best wishes to his wonderful, wonderful family.

Dad was always able to listen without being judgemental, to guide without encouraging the easy route, to support even if you did things differently than suggested, to love without using the "L" word, to allow me to be the person I am without wanting me to change even though I was difficult, to be there whenever he was needed, to create situations of fun and excitement, to spend for others when necessary no matter the cost, to work hard and set a phenomenal example, to trust that you will always do what you believe is the "right" thing to do no matter what public opinion might be, to argue and encourage higher level thinking and reasoning, to learn everyday and value knowledge, to share everything (I think that lasson he got from Mom), to remember the thoughts and feelings of others when making decisions, to say what you want to say because you are speaking out of love, to not be "Politically Correct", to cherish family and demonstrate that by your actions and not your words, to know when you have done enough or said enough and then let it go (I am still trying to learn that lesson), to be youreslf, and above all to love unconditionally. I will miss you terribly. I will love you always. I will take comfort in knowing that although you are no longer with me you have been reunited in Heaven with Mom. Thank you for everything you have done. I would not be the person I am today without your influence. I will remember all the good times. I will continue to make you proud of me (For some reason you were always proud!). I will try to be the parent to my kids that you were to me. I love you Dad!

My deepest condolences to Tom's family. How quickly things change. Said hello to Tom just the other day on the practice range.
Tom and I first met when we were playing in tournament at our beloved Black Hall Club in 1969 or 1970. Since that time we have both played many a round at that place that we both loved (on our good days) and hated (on our bad days).
Rest in peace my friend and I hope there is a Black Hall for you in heaven.
