Virginia Wysoczynski Obituary

New London - Virginia "Ginny" Wysoczynski, 71, of New London, passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2022. Ginny was born in Mansfield, to Edward and Avis (Nichols) Swan Dec. 25, 1950.

Ginny and her husband, Walter of 41 years, were proud owners of G&W's Family Restaurant in Groton, from 1991 until 1997. Many will remember her as the sassy night cook at Rosie's Diner until her retirement. For many years, Ginny and Walt participated in the Bud Dart League and on various bowling leagues at Holiday Bowl. Ginny was proud to be Schaghticoke Native American; she loved fancy jewelry and giving people the tour of all the treasures she collected over the years.

Ginny lived for her children: Tina (Steven) Mell, Robert Prentice, Christy (Dwight) Wenzel and Kelly (Ronald) Allard; her 11 grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, Abbagail, David, Emarhia, Joshua, Amy, Alyssa, Amber, Douglas and Ellen; and her three great-grandchildren, Daemon, Shelby and Robert; plus the two more great-grandkids that were on the way. Ginny imparted strong family values on her loved ones and was only a phone call away, regardless of the situation or time of day. Her family was her everything. She was truly everyone's best friend, confidant and champion.

In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Ginny leaves behind siblings, Linda, Sam and Joyce; and her sister-in-law Sheri who she has taken care of for the past twenty years. Ginny enjoyed taking Sheri shopping and to the boardwalk at Ocean Beach, where they always enjoyed an ice cream. Ginny joins her sister and best friend, Sandy in heaven. Ginny lived a remarkable life and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and her dog Molly!
