Wayne Stewart Monty

Uncasville - Wayne Stewart Monty, 70, of Uncasville, entered eternal life Nov. 1, 2025, in the company of his loving wife Janice (Barber) Monty. He was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Fort Campbell, Ky., the son of the late John and Ingeborg (Fernat) Monty.

Mr. Monty graduated from Old Lyme High school and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to the love of his life the former Janice Barber Aug. 15, 1987, in the Pequot Chapel. He Joined the New London Police Department. in 1977, and retired after 28 years of service, as master patrol officer.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed fishing either salt or fresh water. Wayne was a big New York Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. In his retirement, he and Janice traveled extensively throughout the U.S.

Besides his beloved wife Janice of 38 years of devotion, he is survived by three children, Donna Morales of Stonington, Michelle Willer of Idaho, and Michael Monty of Georgia; and five grandchildren; and a brother, Douglas Monty, of Manchester. Wayne was fond of animals, especially his two favorite furry friends, Spike and Munson.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Avenue, New London. A 10 a.m. funeral home service will take place Monday, Nov 10, followed by Interment in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
