William Sydenham Obituary

Mystic - William E. "Bill" Sydenham III, 47, of Mystic, died tragically as the result of an accident Friday, April 15, 2022. Born in Hartford, he was the loving son of William E. Sydenham Jr. and Diane (Bardsley) Sydenham of Mystic.

Bill attended local schools; was a graduate of Fitch Senior High School; and graduated from Castleton University with a bachelor's degree.

Affectionately known to his family and friends as "Billy," "Bill," "William" or "Will," he was a sales representative for many years in the surgical devices industry. More recently, Bill was excited and just starting a career change with Electric Boat. He always had a passion for mechanical "tinkering" and was looking forward to hanging up his suit and tie, rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty. Billy was always up for taking on a project and completing it to perfection.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Krystin and James Maine of North Stonington; a devoted and proud uncle to his two nieces, Gabrielle and Lena Maine; his aunt and uncle Jennifer and Lawrence Bardsley of Hingham, Mass.; several cousins; and a host of friends, especially his longtime childhood buddies: Lincoln Power, Jason Murgio, Bill O'Keefe, Stephen Schoen and Jason Saganski.

A private funeral Mass for William will be at the convenience of the family. The Sydenham family is planning a celebration of his life during the summer months. Those who wish to attend, may contact the family directly at [email protected]. Please consider a donation in Billy's memory to the Hundred Club of CT, PO Box 419 Glastonbury, CT. 06033. The Mystic Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I just heard about the passing of Bill's passing last night when I attended a retirement dinner. I did not know Bill but I did know his father Bill Jr. To the whole Sydenham family. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I just can not imagine the pain and suffering the family is enduring at this time. As we travel through life there are so many unanswered questions as to why things happen. Bill Jr. and Mrs. Sydenham, my prays and thoughts are with you. You and your family are loved by many especially the Connecticut State Police and Groton Town Police communities. Stay strong.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill. My heart sank when I heard. All the memories from elementary and middle school came flooding back - skateboarding, riding bikes, playing football. I spent so much time at Bill's house growing up it was like a second home to me. My heart goes out to Mr and Mrs. Sydenham, Krystin and the entire family.

So very sorry seeing the news of Billy's passing. I have fond memories of playing Star Wars and cars when we were small children while our moms were visiting each other. Many blessings to the family.

Dear Sydenhams,

The greatest tragedy is the loss of a child. I know this firsthand after losing my only child, age 23, in 2021. I never knew Billy but his circle of friends overlapped with mine which explains how I have a few good photos of him from 2007. He was a gentle person.
