Willis Barrows Obituary

New London - Bill was born Nov. 12, 1941, Transitioned June 13, 2024.

He was the son of Kenneth F. and C. Beatrice (Grindy) Barrows, who predeceased him. He was the loving husband of Pamela D. Barrows; loving father to Tammi M. Barrows; and grandfather to AJ Pia.

Bill had a lifelong love of water, starting as a toddler on the Niantic River. He was a smart, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, always the person who would be there for his family and friends when needed. He maintained friendships established in high school, college and beyond throughout his life. He never forgot anyone and treasured all of them. He was our social butterfly. Good hearted and humble, always had "the dad jokes" ready. He was an United Air Force Veteran, former employee of Pratt & Whitney and Electric Boat/General Dynamics, from which he retired happily to enjoy his family and the water. He was an avid boatsman. It was his happy place to be able to just see the water and enjoy the boats going by on the Thames River with his watcher companion Lily.

He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

A wonderful first cousin, Bill was always full of life. Many decades ago we shared fun summer vacation weeks with our families at their Waterford house on the Niantic River. We enjoyed swimming. We picked Japanese Beetles off the bushes for a penny a piece, and every day we anxiously awaited the ice cream truck. Talking to him on his birthdays, I was sparked by his energy and enthusiasm for his life with Pam, his faithful dogs, and his boats. Bill, you will be missed. So sorry, Pam, Tammie, and AJ for your loss.
