Alan Price Obituary

Alan Thomas Price

Alan Thomas Price, age 69, died at his home in La Quinta, California on November 26th, 2016 after a four-year battle with bladder cancer.

Alan was the son of Jack and Lois Price and younger brother to Janice Price. He is survived by his wife, Lola, four children: Joe, Robert, Lance and Jill. He also leaves behind six grand children, Melissa, Matthew, Amanda, Mia, Jonathan, and Joaquin and three great grandchildren, Ammar, Yaseen and Rayyan. And of course, his pug, Zelda.

Alan is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a medic stationed in Germany. He grew up in Monterey Park. He was hired by the Monterey Park Police Department in 1970 where he became an accomplished narcotics detective. He had a brief career change where he became a boxing promoter, working with legendary boxers, Salvador Sanchez and Danny "Little Red Lopez".

He returned to the profession he loved and served 25 years in the Montebello Police Department, retiring in 1998, achieving the rank of Captain. He spent the rest of his years loving his family, playing Golf with his friends and perfecting his Margarita recipe.

Alan loved, his Family, his friends, The Godfather, Caddyshack, Billy Joel, The 19th Hole, his label maker and peanut butter cookies.

Alan couldn't stand broccoli, whining, cheapskates, Jane Fonda and double bogies.

Big Al, thank you so much for inspiring our son, Matthew, your son-in-law, to pursue a career in law enforcement, and I'll never forget your words of advice at his graduation party, "Matthew, no matter what happens, always do the right thing." I know he's taken those words to heart, thanks to you, a man of true integrity. God bless you and Lola and all of your children and families.

Thank you Al for your kindness and friendship. I wish I could hear you tell one more joke and relive our time in Toronto, Canada. You, Steve S. and I had a great time at the "Glen Abbey".
To Lola, thank you for sharing Al with us..he truly made a difference to those who worked with him. We learned and we laughed! My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
God Bless...Greg Sells aka "Gregie
