Alice Torres Obituary
Alice Arias Torres, 81, of Indio, California went home to be with the Lord Peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 14, 2012. She was born October 6, 1930 in Oasis, Calif. to Gabriel and Mercedes Arias. She graduated from Coachella Valley High School and continued on in her studies to obtain her teaching credentials as a Early Childhood Educator. Alice worked for the Coachella Valley Unified School District for 35 years. She married Carmelo Torres in 1954 and had 5 children. Alice Torres was a life long resident of the Coachella Valley. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Torres (Estella) of Coachella, Roy Torres (Laura) of Indio, and her Daughter, Mercy (Ramon) Alvarez of Indio, and daughter-in law, Connie Torres of Indio. Her sisters, Celia Quintero and Irene Chavez both of Indio, her brothers, Raul Arias of Indio and Rudy Arias of San Jose, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and is preceded in death by her two sons Robert and Rick Torres. Friends may call for visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Indio on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be said at the hour of 10:00 a.m. and a Mass service at the hour of 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery. Funeral arrangements will be provided by FitzHenry-Wiefels of Indio.

I think of my Aunt Alice quite a bit. The best memories of her were when she would attempt to tell me a joke. Even though she would kill the punchline sometimes, I would laugh because she would start laughing at the end of her joke. I loved my Aunt Alice she always had a story to tell me and always made sure that i was ok before I would leave. A great caring and loving person. I do miss her.❤

Tia Alice, it's been a year now since you have left us. I know that Raymond, Roy, and Mercy love you and miss you. I love and miss you also Tia. I never got a chance to thank you for helping me. The Alvarez Family: You know I miss your dear mother! The wonderful talks we had! She always had something to say: "Now, let me tell you something" she would say! I would respond "Well do you have any tea?" Of course she would! We were then in "serious" conversation for at least an hour! Aww..yes, I remember her and miss her!
