Bette Myers Obituary
La Quinta - Bette Lou Myers peacefully passed away in her La Quinta home on April 14, 2021.
Born in Salem, Oregon Bette was the first of 3 children born to Tom and Margaret Grier. In 1955 the Grier's moved to Palm Springs, California where Bette graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1959. While at Shasta Community College she met and married S. Arthur Myers. Together they would have 4 children.
Bette was a 2nd generation debt collector and started working for her parents at Indio Collection Service in the early 60's. She eventually combined her parents Palm Springs business with the Indio business and was CEO of Valley Creditors Service, The Public Record and Desert Credit Bureau. She was the 1988 Athena Award winner for Business Woman of the Year.
She volunteered with Indio Junior Women's Club, Desert Sands Unified School District, California Women of Agriculture, The James Franciscas Celebrity Tennis Tournament, The Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce, La Quinta Chamber of Commerce and a Paul Harris Fellow with the Palm Desert Rotary Club just to name a few. She would generously open her home to professional tennis players, celebrities and cast members from around the world that traveled with Up with People.
Her real love was her dog, Harley, and the American people. She donated countless hours with the California Republican Party to help Make America and California Great Again. Bette was a beautiful person inside and out and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by four children, Brian Myers (Pat), Greg Myers (Delana), Timothy Myers (Lisa), Samantha Williams (John). Sisters Judy Munson (Frank), Nancy Korte (Jerry) Sally Asay (Bob). Grandchildren Shawna Carrier, Desiree Myers, Chase Myers, Joshua Plehinger, Thomas Myers, Matt Myers and Timothy Williams. Great Grandchildren, Jacob and Jayden Carrier, Belle Plehinger, Braxton Myers and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents Tom and Margaret Grier.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 1-3pm at The Patriot Store, 78-870 Hwy 111 in La Quinta. In Lieu of flowers, Bette would like you to help make California Great again by donating to East Valley PAC, American Matters.

Bette and I were good friends. We graduated from high school together. We’re not only went to political functions together but traveled out of state for vacations. Bette was the a loyal friend. I will truly miss her.

Bette was an original! Her strong will and business skills were legendary in the Coachella Valley. My sister and I will always be incredibly thankful to her for being such a wonderful friend to my parents -- and especially to my dear daddy during those last difficult days. Sending condolences to the Myers family. Godspeed Bette!
