Clifford McBride Obituary

Clifford Ray McBride

Cliff McBride of Palm Desert passed peacefully at the age of 79 on August 10, 2015 in Santa Ana, CA. Cliff was born in Orange, CA to Vernie & Viola McBride and grew up in San Bernardino, graduating from high school in 1953. He then entered the U.S. Coast Guard where he served for 4 years from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. After his Coast Guard service Cliff attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa and eventually obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Pepperdine University. Cliff was a Reserve on the Newport Beach Police Dept. for 1 year before transferring to the Costa Mesa Police Dept. in 1959 where he spent 30 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. Retired for over 25 years, Cliff and his wife Pat have lived in Palm Desert where they have enjoyed the golf and social activities plus traveling with family and friends. Cliff is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons, Kent McBride (Joy), Craig McBride (Susan), Steve Alexander (Maggie); Grandchildren Jake & Kelsey McBride and Jeff & Robert Alexander. Cliff will be missed forever and remembered as a one-of-a-kind special man-kind, funny, generous and loving. He befriended everyone he met with his "gift of gab" and was loved by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life in Cliff's memory will be held on September 17 from 4-7 p.m. at The American Legion in Newport Beach.

We were saddened to learn of Cliff's passing. He introduced us in 1974 while working at the Costa Mesa Police Dept. He would be happy to know we are still married. Cliff was kind, caring and loved to have a good time. May he rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to his family.

I am so glad that we were able to take a boat cruise a few months ago and tell each other that we still loved each other. What a wonderful man, kind, funny and generous. I know that you are in paradise now, healed and happy. I will always love you Cliffie ~
