David Rosenbaum Obituary

David Ira Rosenbaum

Palm Springs - David Ira Rosenbaum of Palm Springs, age 74 passed away at home on July 3, 2020 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

David was born in Orange, New Jersey. He lived in West Orange New Jersey until he went to college at Boston University. He spent all of his summers at his favorite place, his families' summer home in Bradley Beach, New Jersey on the Jersey shore. After university, he attended law school at Suffolk University School of Law. He ultimately received his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1973.

After Law School he spent a number of years working as a credit analyst for several firms, including a division of Dun and Bradstreet. In spite of the fact that his physical health was failing, he spent as much time as he could volunteering as a "buddy" for the Aids Project Los Angeles and also as a volunteer on the AIDS unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

David enjoyed the arts, especially theater and the opera. His favorite activity without a doubt was planning and taking trips with his life partner, Barry. They went on numerous trips and cruises throughout their long relationship. They always tried to visit cemeteries especially in smaller cities. At a cemetery in Key West, Florida they saw a gravestone with the inscription, "I told you I was sick". At the time, he said that he wanted that on his grave. And that he shall have.

David is survived by his partner of 54 years, Barry Greenberg of Palm Springs. He also survived by a brother and sister-in-law in Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Rosenbaum of Fort Lauderdale, FL, a sister Petey Brown and her husband Arthur Levine of Brooklyn, NY, 6 nieces and nephews, their, respective spouses, and14 great nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held on July 5, 2020 at The Garden of Eden at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, CA.

Donations can be made in David's name to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

I'm a cousin by marriage ( Clark Silver) to David. I spent the summer of 1963 at Grandpa Max's house in Bradley Beach, NJ. Grandpa Max's sister Aunt Sarah Rosenbaum had the house next door and David was spending the summer with her. It was a fun time and David and I spent a lot of time together at the beach. My daughter Janine was an eleven month old at the time and learned to walk on the beach. We all had a good time especially in the evening when everyone spent time in the joint backyard with all the family. There were aunts, uncles and lots of cousins. A great time in our lives.
