Dina Adamcik Obituary

Dina Adamcik went home to be with her Lord Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in her home in Indio. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her husband and loving family after a year-long battle with melanoma cancer.

Dina was born January 19, 1976, in Red Bank, N. J., to Robert and Barbara Lukacs. She married Stephen Adamick Oct. 23, 1999.

She is survived by her husband; parents; grandparents Michael and Anna Lukacs, and Salvatore Fontana and Vinzie Fontana; her brothers Robert and Brent and sister Lindsay Lukacs; as well as many longtime friends.

Dina moved to California when she was four years old and attended schools in the Redlands area. Upon graduating Suma Cum Laude and being recognized among the top ten graduates of the University of California Riverside in 1998, Dina remained active in her college sorority, Pi Beta Phi, throughout her life. A devoted Christian, she was a member of Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells and was a witness of God's love to everyone who knew her.

Dina was employed by Anheuser-Bush as a sales representative during college and then became a very successful account manager in the advertising industry. For the past three years, Dina excelled as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly Inc. She enjoyed playing with her three pugs, reading, creating photo albums, playing cards, listening to music, and rarely missed an opportunity to dance. She was an exceptional home decorator and enjoyed taking many tropical vacations with her husband and family members throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving daughter and sister, and a committed friend.

In the past year, Dina became very involved with melanoma cancer awareness through educating others and by creating cancer care packages for those involved with treatment. Her courage and faith were an inspiration to all and she will always be remembered for her caring, thoughtful, and loving character.

A celebration of Dina's life will be offered at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 at Southwest Community Church, 77-701 Fred Waring Drive Indian Wells.

Today I start a new treatment for my Melanoma and I was just gifted a beautiful bag from her family to help get me through. The best part of it is the ribbon that holds her name. I will be forever grateful for the kindness of the family to share Dina with me and to Dina for being a brave soul in the fight for a cure for melanoma. As a patient, those who have traveled this road before me are an inspiration and provide encouragement that one day no one will have to travel this road. God Bless Dina and God Bless her family and friends.

I can't believe it's been 9 months since Dina went home to God. I've known Dina since elementary school, and from the day I met her, she was such a positive light in my life. A truly amazing friend and confidant whose optimism was contagious. She was a shining light in a world that could get pretty dark at times. I am so incredibly grateful that after 10 years, I reconnected with Dina only a couple months before her melanoma diagnosis. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I know Dina came back into my life when she did to remind me what true compassion, strength, and faith really are. Dina is truly an angel watching over all of us.

Hi, I was so sad upon hearing about Dina. We went to Junior High and High School together. I saw her just last October at our reunion. She looked great and was full of life as always. We caught up and I know how much she was looking forward to starting a family.

She was always so giving and helpful and full of life. There are no words that can make the loss any easier, but know that she was loved by many.

I knew Dina at UCR through Pi Phi. I was extremely saddened to hear of her battle with cancer, and devasted to hear that she passed away. As someone who lost her mom at age three (my mom was only 27), I understand how unfair cancer can be. Dina was a beautiful woman and wonderful friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Stephen,

I first met Dina @ Dr. Osmani office in Redlands. As you know she welcomed me into your lives so caringly, I was terrified to move out to the desert with out knowing anyone. She was the sweetest most caring person. I wish you the best and wanted to say she will be missed.

It was with great sadness that I read the news of Dina's passing in the paper this morning. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Dina at Graphtek Advertising in Palm Desert and she was always a delight to be around. Dina was enthusiastic, energetic, beautiful, and also very capable and intelligent. She loved to learn new things and to constantly challenge herself. Dina loved her family and her husband, Stephen, with every fiber of her being, and radiated such joy it was contagious.I remember driving one day to a meeting in LA with her and we sang songs at the top of our lungs all the way there! She is a person who really lived a full life despite her short time with us because she always lived life in the moment and made the most of every day. We should all live by her example.

Having lost my own beloved husband,Sam, to cancer three years ago I know the special agony that this devastating and relentless disease brings and my heart truly goes out to Dina's husband and all of her family and close friends at this difficult time.

Though she will no longer be with us in a physical sense, Dina's wonderful spirit will always be alive in the hearts of all that knew her.

I knew Dina from elementary, junior high, and high school. Although I hadn't seen her in 10 years, I've always remembered her as the sweetest person I've ever known, and that sweetness was genuine. I heard about her diagnosis recently but my heart sank when I read her obituary. I feel much sympathy for her husband and family and my thoughts are with you all.

Although I never met Dina in person it was my pleasure and honor to speak with her several times by phone regarding her diagnosis. Her beautiful personality and love for her husband came right through the phone. Knowing that such a beautiful person was hit by melanoma was so devastating but she embraced her fight with such a positive attitude and grace. I hope that in this time of sorrow that her family and friends find peace and tranquility knowing that she is in a better place. Although she was taken too soon she touched so many people, even those of us who never met her, and she accomplished more than many do in a lifetime! May she rest in peace!

Dina will be missed by all who knew her. I didn't get the chance to meet her, however I know she was a joy to all who knew her. Her name is heard in many doctor's offices and they have so many wonderful things to say about her. One office told me how they loved it when she used to bring pictures in to share of her family and friends. She was known as a cheerful and kind person in the pharmaceutical industry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

Dina will be greatly misses by one and all. She was a wonderful person who brought a ray of sunshine into your life whenever she came in a room. I will never forget how she would wear these very high heels and I would say, "Dina, aren't you afraid you'll break a leg or some thing?" She said, "Don't worry, I'm a pro!" She came in a few weeks later and started laughing uncontrolably. I asked her what was wrong and she told me a story about how she fell and almost broke a leg! She was wonderful! I will miss her greatly.

Every so often in life, if you are lucky you get to spend time with a really good person. I was more than lucky. For nearly seven years I got to work with a brilliant young woman and watch her grow into an exceptional marketing talent. Clients were often disarmed by her youth, but quickly came to respect her talents, opinions and expertise. Her energy, enthusiasm and loyalty made the good times fun and the hard times easier. She had a tenacity for details that was amazing, a great creative sense and she was fun to be around. She will be fondly remembered by her co-workers, her clients and most especially me. I will miss her but I will not forget her.

What I will remember about Dina was her enthusiasm about life and with everyone she came in contact with. She was such a caring person and so thoughtful down to the very little details. Her smile was contagious and the beauty that she had on the outside was multiplied 100 times on the inside. I am so glad that Dina came into my life and even though we didn't speak very often I will miss her dearly until we meet again in heaven.

Dina will be greatly missed. She used to come to JC' Patio for her morning decaf coffee with a little vanilla. She was so upbeat and fun to talk to. She was a shining star!

Dina was one of our favorite sales reps in our medical office. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face and something encouraging to say. She will be missed by everyone at the office of Dr. Gorman and Dr. Tibb.
