Doris Dickson Obituary

Doris O. Dickson

Doris O. Dickson, born June 30, 1916, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 98 in her home in Palm Springs, California, on Nov. 27, 2014. Born in London, England, she leaves behind many local friends and an extended family that resides in England. She married Harold Wadsworth (deceased) and Reg Dickson (deceased), and had three children, Jill Gamberg of Ridgecrest, California; Jacky Shoopman of Palm Springs, California; and Paul Wadsworth (deceased in 2010). She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Doris was in the restaurant business since childhood. She was employed by Chef's Inn, Newporter Inn and in Palm Springs at Ruby Dunes, Jack Londons and Sorrentino's. She also was a docent at Hearst Castle. She lived in London, Canada, Newport Beach, Cambria and Palm Springs. Her hobbies were knitting and traveling, and she loved family and a fun night at the casino. You could always go by her house at 4:00 p.m. for a cup of tea. Three words that sum up her life are "Love, Joy, and Peace." A celebration of life service was held Dec. 22, 2014, at the Sahara Mobile Home Park. Memorial donations may be made to Mizell Senior Center Meals on Wheels program at 480 S. Sunrise Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262.
