F. McAvoy Obituary

F. Timothy (Tim) McAvoy

June 27, 1945 - July 20, 2017

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tim McAvoy. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and passed away from complications of pneumonia at the age of 72.

Tim was predeceased by his mother Alyce F., father Francis T. and brother Kevin McAvoy. He is survived by his wife Karen Suzanne, brother David, (JoAnn), sisters Mary and Susan McAvoy, cousin Paula (Burke) Robinson, many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews from the Boston area. Tim is also survived by stepdaughters Sondra Dunn (Aaron), Tracy Johnson (Greg) and their children Brianna, Ryan and Trevor.

Tim served in the Army for three years including a tour in Germany until 1969. He then moved to California and attended Cal State LA before pursuing his passion of a career in the movie business. He worked as a movie and television editor at major movie studios for thirty years. Tim and his wife of ten years moved to La Quinta, CA. three years ago from Arcadia and loved their new home and lifestyle in the beautiful community "Trilogy".

He was an avid Dean Martin fan, a great history buff and enjoyed reading "everything." He was a Dodger fan and loved traveling with his wife, especially to Hawaii. Tim also very much enjoyed the horse races at Santa Anita in Arcadia. It was there that he met his wife who worked at the track for many years. They were introduced by a mutual friend, Carol Mossuto. Tim always said, "It was the best day I ever had at the track." Tim was known for his humorous wit and deep compassion for his friends and family. He will truly be missed by many!

At Tim's request there will not be a formal service but a private celebration of his life at his favorite restaurant in Arcadia CA., "The Derby" with friends and family at a later date.

Still can't believe he's gone. We miss him. Can still hear his voice with the trace of a Boston accent. He was definitely one of the nice guys, and we were so happy that he was part of our family.
