Gerry Maceda, 55, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, May 21,2016. He and his family moved from San Francisco Bay Area 22 years ago and has since been long-time residents of the City of La Quinta. Gerry passed away at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio. Gerry was born on April 7, 1961 in Manila, Philippines, to Alicia and Manuel Maceda (RIP). He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margarita "Gigi" Maceda of La Quinta, CA; son Matthew Gerard Maceda of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Cristina Carlstedt of Las Vegas and Rosanna Maceda of West Covina, CA. Gerry was an avid bicyclist and professional free-lance photographer for The Desert Sun, PalmSprings Life Magazine, MaxPreps and Retina while working as an IT Tech for The County of Riverside Department of Social Services - IT Unit, where he retired from in October 2014.He thoroughly enjoyed his free-lance photography gigs and assignments by MaxPreps and The Desert Sun. Some of his many assignments included High School Athletic Games, Proms, Graduations, and numerous local Desert events. His photos from Coachella & Stagecoach Music Festivals were published in Rolling Stone, Cowboy World, Desert Sun, and many other online news publications. He was honored to be a primary runway photographer for several years with Palm Desert Fashion Week and Wine & Food Weekend. Many of his shoots from BNP Tennis, Humana Golf, and LPGA Golf were published in Palm Springs Life Magazine. He was also the official photographer for the Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade for several years. Aside from photography, Gerry could be seen on his bicycle riding solo or amongst his groups of friends from the Desert Bike Club. During family time, Gerry and family enjoyed cruising and world travel to Asia, Europe, Mexico, Caribbean Islands, including the USA. Vigil and Viewing will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 4pm - 9pm at Christ of the Desert Chapel in Palm Desert (Fred Waring and San Pablo)Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Washington St. La Quinta..
