Jane Jarvis Obituary

Jane "Pat" Jarvis of Claremont, Calif. passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 at the age of 83 after a brief illness. She will always be remembered for the smile on her face, laughter, sense of humor, goodwill and devotion to her family and friends. Pat was born on January 14, 1928 in Philadelphia to Harry and Edith Rowbotham. Pat graduated from John W. Halloran Catholic Girls School in Philadelphia. She married Robert Jarvis on March 24, 1951 and moved to Southern California after driving to California on Route 66 for their honeymoon. Pat lived in the San Gabriel Valley for 40 years and is survived by family members, Robert Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, Ted Jarvis, Patsy Jarvis, Greta Jarvis, Annika Jarvis, Ted Briggs, Michael Kramer and Mark Kramer. Pat was a past president of the Assistance League, taking great joy in supporting community-based philanthropic programs. She was also past president of St. Lucy's Benedictine Guild and a volunteer at Queen of the Valley Hospital, the Braille Institute and most recently served on the Autumn Nocturne Committee of the Citrus Valley Foundation. Pat also took great pleasure in participating in thoroughbred horse racing as an owner. Her greatest thrills included winning The Travers in 1997 at Saratoga Race Course with Deputy Commander. Pat's memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont followed by a Celebration of Life reception at South Hills Country Club in West Covina, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Citrus Valley Health Foundation.

Pete and I will remember Pat with the fondest memories of trips to Del Mar during the racing season. We will keep Patsy and family in our prayers.
