Jeanne Gilroy Obituary

Jeanne Lilly Gilroy

August 23, 1932-October 2, 2019

Jeanne was born in San Francisco California, her identical sister Joanne followed 24 minutes later. Jeanne was the daughter of Arno and Katherine Lilly, growing up in Studio City. She graduated from North Hollywood High School and attended LA City College. Jeanne and Joanne were inseparable sisters. Their likeness never wavered throughout their lives as people continued to guess, Jeanne or Joanne?

Jeanne worked as a dental assistant in North Hollywood and one of her patients suggested she meet his son, a Naval Aviator, Jack Gilroy. They were married in 1957. While stationed in Pensacola Florida, Jack and Jeanne had two children, daughter Debbie and son John.

Jeanne and family moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1971. She worked at Monterey Community Hospital for 20 years as a Unit Secretary. Jeanne and family were active members of the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club and developed life-long friendships.

Jeanne and Jack moved to Palm Springs in 2008. Their home was the place to be at 5:00 pm. So many good friends would visit each day to raise a glass, reminisce and just enjoy each other's company. When Jeanne moved into assisted living, she initiated the 5:00 routine there. She was a kind and fun-loving person. It's 5:00 somewhere.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter Debbie Udycz (Roman), son John Gilroy (Sue), 4 grandchildren, sister Joanne Petty, and niece.
