Joe Acuña Obituary

Joe Acuña

Jose "Joe" Olivas Acuña made his way to Heaven on November 12, 2017 in Indio CA with family by his side. He is preceded in death by his Parents Martin & Petra Acuña and Sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia V Acuña; his son Joey Acuña Jr.; his Daughter Monica Acuña and his Grandson Joey Galvez-Acuña III; Brothers Tony, Ernest, Raymond and Art; Sisters Paula, Manuela, Consuelo and Esperanza; and many Nieces, Nephews, Godchildren, extended Family Members and Friends.

Born on January 17, 1936 in Brawley, CA to Martin & Petra Acuña, Joe grew up in the agricultural field, was a truck driver until he settled into construction until his retirement. In 1961 he married Virginia Valencia and soon after had their first child, a son Joey Jr. A few years later a Daughter, Monica would follow. Joe always enjoyed spending time with his family, be it quick trips, long vacations or the famous family trips to Las Vegas or Bullhead City. In 2001 his only grandchild, Joey III was born and his life would never be the same. He became the "greatest Grandpa in the world" and let everyone know it.

Joe Acuña was truly one of the good guys in life, or as one family member put it "He loved all his family and friends, even the bad ones". He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Soledad Church, 52-555 Oasis, Coachella, CA. Visitation and Rosary will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass, with a burial at 1:00 pm at Coachella Valley Cemetery, 82-925 Avenue 52, Coachella CA.
