John Biggi Obituary

John Steve Biggi, Sr., 91 of Beaverton, Oregon passed away on December 6th, 2017 peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loved ones.
The funeral service for John will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Beaverton on January 25th, 2018. Rosary will be at 10:30 am and a funeral mass at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the Stockpot Restaurant.
John was born on December 26th, 1925, the son of Louis and Rose Biggi. He attended St. Cecilia's Grade School and Benson High School. At age 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. After the war John returned home to help his mother build her growing horseradish business (Beaverton Foods). He was a skilled mechanic, electrician, plumber and horseradish farmer. As the City of Beaverton grew around the family farm, John would develop many retail properties and restaurants that would become the center of Beaverton. He was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Cecilia's and Holy Trinity Parishes. John was active in his community serving as President of the Beaverton Jaycee's and represented Beaverton as a Jaycee International Senator. Under his leadership the club accomplished many notable service projects. In his association with the Jaycee's, Beaverton Elks, Rotary, Italian Businessmen's and Beaverton Businessmen's Golf Club, he touched many lives and made dozens of life long friends. John loved to travel and explore, play golf and cards and dine out with friends and family. He enjoyed socializing, often entertaining his audiences with historical facts, stories and political discussions.
John married Sharron Biggi (Christenson) on June 27, 1981; they were married for 36 years. John and Sharron would spend their retirement together traveling and as sunbirds, living in both Portland and Palm Desert.
John was preceded in death by his grandson, Rocky Wilson.
John is survived by his wife, Sharron; his sons, Steve Biggi (Laura), Mike Biggi (Diane), Vince Biggi (Lisa) and daughter Gina Biggi Goeser; step-children Brian Christenson (Quincie), Tammy Vaughn (Lester) and Doug Christenson; his grandchildren Nicole, Jason, Brooke, Ian, Anna, Jake, Alexandra, Nicholas, Matthew and Jade; 8 great-grandchildren; niece Allison Rice (Kevin), his cousins in Genoa, Italy and many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Cecilia's Church.

Many wonderful memories of John and Deloras during our Jaycee days in Beaverton in the late 50s till 1965 when we moved away. He was a very gracious host and always ready with a story to make us all laugh. I loved telling everyone that I was friends of the people that own the Beaverton Horseradish Company. I remember my husband Nick used to help John when the line would go down. The family is a Beaverton Treasure. May the Lord comfort his children, his wife, and all his family and friends. So many good memories of the Biggi family when we were raised nearby in Beaverton. I babysat for John and Delores for many years. Always was good to see John when visiting "coffee time" in downtown Beaverton. He was one of the best....always smiling. My prayers are with the family,
