John Kay Obituary

John M. Kay

(aka John M. Krakowiak)

April 13, 1936 - February 25, 2015

John M. Kay lost his battle with cancer and was taken home by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 25th. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, with four years of active duty and four years in the Reserves as Sergeant. After a successful career in Detroit's automotive automation industry, he relocated from Michigan to Palm Desert, California in 1998. John served on several Board and Committee posts with The Oasis Country Club Men's Golf Club and was a leader in hosting the annual Memorial Day event honoring Active Marine Corps at The Oasis. Whether golfing or relaxing with friends on his patio at the 15th tee, John lived a full and joyful life. He was happiest sharing his love and laughter with friends and family. We are all blessed to have known him and will forever treasure the memories. John is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jacqueline, and leaves behind his sister Marcia Minol, brother Donald Krako, nephew Dave Krakowiak, long time companion Loretta Moss and a boatload of dear family and friends. Following a private interment at Riverside National Cemetery, a celebration of John's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at The Oasis Country Club, 42-330 Casbah Way in Palm Desert. In John's memory, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Haven't seen John in years, but he was one of my early members of American Singles Golf Association 14 1/2 years ago. Lots of good times we had that first couple of years after I moved to the desert

I will always think of John sitting on his stool at the Oasis, and entertaining us with his songs at Karaoke. RIP John. You will be missed.

My friend John, You, my friend, have made the 15th tee the most precious part of the Oasis CC. It was you, while in this horrible struggle with cancer that daily delivered a friendship such as none I have ever known on any golf course has ever delivered. I will pray for you, I will miss you and I will honor your contribution to this great country as long as the Lord allows me to "attempt" to play the 15th hole at the OASIS! A handshake from Pi
