Joseph Gutierrez Lares

- - (1942-2019) Joseph G. Lares passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 26, 2019, at his home in Indio, California following a lengthy battle with Cancer. He was born in Indio, California on May 17, 1942. He graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1960 and attended San Diego State University, majoring in Accounting, in 1965. He received his training in Accounting with the then prestigious C.P.A. firm of Ellis, Bucchino & Harrington in Indio, attaining the title of Senior Staff Accountant. In 1977, he established his own tax and accounting practice in Indio with the firm name of Associated Business Service. He has been enrolled to practice before the I.R.S. since 1980; being one of two individuals to pass the exam in 1980 from the Coachella Valley. He retired by selling his business in February 2019. In the years of 1970-1974 Joseph was a Director and Officer of the local Indio Jaycees. He also was one of the founding fathers of the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce (CVMAC) for which he was presented an Honorary Lifetime Membership Award in 1992. Joseph is Survived by his wife Lucille (Montellano) Lares, daughter's Denise Lares, Regina Lares-Salinas (Angel), and Mandy Lares, son's Shawn Lares (Karla), and Aaron Lares, grandchildren Jarred Garza, Jeshua Garza, Tristan Lares-Salinas, Ethan Lares-Salinas, Itzel Lares, and Joseph Lares. Joseph was proceeded in death by his parents Victor Rubacalva Lares and Genevieve Gutierrez Lares, his brother Victor Lares, and newborn son Joseph Lamont Lares. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Palm Desert Country Club Association 77-800 California Drive Palm Desert, Ca. 92211.
