Lenora Hinton Obituary

Lenora Hinton, resident of La Quinta, Calif., passed away at 10:50 AM on January 20, 2011, in her home surrounded by loving family and friends at the age of 55. Born on September 10, 1955 in Anaheim, Calif., Lenora is remembered as an inspiration, compassionate caregiver, and beloved mother, daughter, companion, sister, and Grammy. A hard working single mother of five children, her endless strength and strong beliefs defined her journey as a provider, eternal giver, and someone who never turned anyone away. Christ lived in the center of her heart, and Lenora was a woman whose intuitive ability to nourish others was only a part of her down to earth and bone-deep decency. With an extraordinary gift to bring people together, Lenora is remembered for what she gave, and not from what she could get from life. Not shy to speak up, she commonly said, "Sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here." She will never be forgotten, will remain in our hearts forever as a loving mom and friend, and someone who anyone could tell anything to. Survived by her children, Amber, Joe, Troy, Shon and Stephanie; Lenora was daughter to Nancy Lenzer and Gary Hinton. She leaves 12 grandchildren, Shai, Naiviv, Kalfan, Camron, Berlin, Bryelle, Dajuani, Trevor, Landon, Justin, Elijah, Nicolas, and more to come who will miss their Grammy. Remaining a blessing, and making a difference in so many lives, Lenora's hand written message left during her last days is now treasured by everyone, "I love all of you. Be nice to each other. Love, Mom."

I miss you more and more everyday mom. I just want to wake up from this dream and cook you some breakfast, and make you some coffee. I want to sit on the front porch with you and laugh as we watch the roadrunners eat the cat food you toss to them. I want to drive you to the store and the entire way there I want to hear you tell me how much of a bad driver I am. I want to 'splurge' and buy you your favorite cheesecake, just because I know how much you enjoy it. I want to sit on the couch and listen to all the stories you have to share. I want to see you brighten up when your grandkids come around. I want to hug you one more time. I want to thank you for being an amazing person. I want to thank you for being the great mother that you are.You are an angel.

Lenora was the third nicest lady I ever met, besides my Mom and my Grandma. I love her as a friend and I will miss her very much and I hope she is ok now.

Lenora Hinton makes me smile. I did not get a chance to know her well, but somehow she touched my heart and I continue to think about her often. Lenora's death, while tragic and unfair, started a beautiful display of humanity. The way her children came together and they way the community around them stepped up to help was incredible and it was exactly what Lenora was about. I am thankful to have known her, I am thankful to the people who reached out to help her children and I am proud of Troy, Steph, Joe, Shon, Amber and Brandon for their commitment to their Mom and each other.

I am truely sad to hear of the loss of such a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be truely missed, though I didn't know her very well I know how great she was by the people she left behind. I know what a tough battle she fought and now she is an angel in heaven with God.

i love you

Its as if you were here yesterday, I was just telling Steph last night. I can see (Images so vividly) you get out of the car in the parking lot of City of Hope in that exact parking space, me asking if your ready to go in for your appointment, you saying no, you needed a few puffs of your cigarette (Parliament Full Flavored was your brand), while I tried to sneak a wheelchair so you wouldn't have to walk, and you saying you didn't need one, even though deep inside you really did. I looked at you in amazement, thinking to myself how on gods green earth were you always able to smile while in so much pain and overwhelming stress...one simple answer, you are a STRONG woman...Its hard to see you go, but speaking on everybody's behalf we all know you are in a much better place, as now your pain has ended and you are at eternal peace, your spirit floating freely into heaven with God and his Angels...Love Brandon, Stephanie, Trevor, Landon, & Nicolas. Rest In Peace.

It is paradoxical but profoundly true that the most certain way for people to bring hope, help, meanging and joy to their lives is by reaching out bringing hope, help, meaning and joy to the lives of others. If you have known Lenora Hinton, you may have already experienced this beautiful phonomemon yourself. Always loved, Linora will never be forgotten.

To the family of Lenoa, especially Joe, Troy and Stephanie who I enjoyed knowing. I was sad to read about your Mother's death. I have thought about her so often, especially when I've been in your old Bottlebrush neighborhood. I loved her very much and enjoyed talking about the Bible with her a few years ago. She was a special lady who raised very special children. Love to all of you. Linda Currens, La Quinta

No complaints have you or I
Life must rise and fall
It's better to be born to die
Than to have never lived at all
And having lived through joy and strife
happiness and sorrow
If I again could live my life
I'd be born tomorrow
