Maurice Summers

1940 - 2013

Maurice Summers, of Palm Springs, passed away August 3, 2013 in Palm Desert. He was born February 3, 1940, one of three sons to Robert Henry and Henrietta Bailey Summers in Nashville, Tennessee. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, John and Raymond. As a young man, Maurice moved to Denver, Colo. and then to Los Angeles in the mid 60s. He traveled and lived for many years in northern Europe. When he returned to the U.S., he would often stay with his friend, George, in Los Angeles. George said, Maurice would write often, and send the most wonderful gifts from overseas. He found him friendly, loving and a sharing person throughout the almost 50 years they knew each other. In 1998, Maurice partnered with Larry Simpson, until his death in October 2011. They traveled and enjoyed most of the restaurants here in the valley. Following Maurice's wishes, he will be cremated and ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean, joining his mother and Larry.
