Nancy Semones Obituary

Nancy W. Semones

July 27, 1937 - Dec. 1, 2016

Nancy W Semones, 80, of Palm Springs took the last of her many difficult respirations, finally surrendering to COPD on December 1, 2016. She was born in Evanston Illinois, received RN degree from Northwestern University and ended her career as a travel consultant at Anderson Travel. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, two sons, two daughters and 5 grandchildren. Before the final six months Nancy really enjoyed her many warm friendships, tennis, cruising and being the pillar of her family with joyful energy and upbeat spirit for life. No memorial services per her wishes.

It's taken me a while to collect my thoughts around Nancy's passing. She was such a force of natureI still feel her energy swirling around the planet.

Nancy was a unique spirit; bold, smart, classy, outspoken, and refreshingly unapologetic about her choices and worldview. At first, her intensity augmented by a piercing gaze when she was trying to figure you out, frightened me a little. But over time, her inner gentleness and depth of compassion became all I saw.

She was funny, quick-witted, generous, and kind. She was a good friend to me, and I will miss her dearly. RIP Nancy. I'll find you in every clap of thunder, flash of lightning, and breath of wind.

Nancy was always very nice to the friends of her children. She treated us all so well when we did not really deserve it. Such a great hostess at her homes both in Riverside and Palm Springs and a truly modern woman being very hip to young people. I knew Nancy for nearly 38 years and she was kind and youthful that entire span.

Dear Semones family,
I have many memories of your family from the many years of babysitting in Riverside. All my best to all of you. Wish I'd known Nancy lived nearby. She was a lovely person.

I was the Semones babysitter starting when Bobby was only four. She taught me what it meant to be a grown up and I was so privileged to be her friend.

Nancy cared for so many loved ones in her life. Her giving nature inspires me to be a kinder person. I will always remember her. She especially loved Earl, she always showed it.
