Paul Kiener Obituary

Paul Wesley Kiener

Paul Wesley Kiener our beloved husband, brother, father, and friend passed away on July 18, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.

Born June 4, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Althea and Lincoln Kener, Paul graduated from Skyline High School and Brooks Institute of Photography with a degree in film. He loved movies and was an avid documentary and feature filmmaker all of his life.

He spent 20 years in the Utah and Texas National Guard as a public information officer making award winning films for the guard. While in the guard, he became interested in WWII reenacting and spent the rest of his life becoming an expert on the subject and teaching history to students and the public at air shows and schools.

In 1998, Paul moved to La Quinta, CA. with his wife and two youngest children. He had a passion for God, family, horses, and filmmaking and became a private pilot flying his Stinson to air shows and to visit family and friends.

A remarkable and loving man, Paul is survived by his wife Christine, Sister Kathy, Children Angie, Chad, Kari, Joel and Ashley, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held when we can gather again.

October 7, 2020

Paul's father, Lincoln Kener, and my father, George Wallace "Wallly" Fox, were childhood friends. Paul and I, likewise were also close friends during our teenage years. At one point we both lived in Carriage Lane condominiums, in Holladay, Utah and spent much of our summers living in and around the pool. Later, I lived west of Skyline High School, while Paul lived to the south. We spent several years together while he honed his skills with local, rented 8mm, basement, movies for other area kids at a minimum charge. He also created his own movie, "The Last Nephite" using area kids and local sites. I'm truly sorry to learn of his passing and offer my condolences to his wife, his children, his sister, Kathy; and his friends.
