Robert Glenn Hatfield

Robert Glenn Hatfield of La Quinta, Calif. passed away on August 30, 2013 in Ventura, Calif. after gallantly fighting cancer for nine years. Bob was born on September 27, 1945 in Huntington Park, Calif. He graduated from Dominguez High School in Compton in 1963 then attended Cal Western University at Point Loma, San Diego on a baseball scholarship receiving his B.A. in 1967. He then received his M.B.A. from Thunderbird: American Institute for Foreign Trade in Phoenix, Ariz. Bob was an avid golfer, loved gin rummy and was deeply involved in several country clubs. His first and most loved club was San Gabriel C.C. but he also enjoyed membership at North Ranch C.C. in Westlake, and Saticoy C.C. in Somis. He currently held a membership at La Quinta C.C. Over the years he loved fishing, snow skiing, sailing, and white water rafting with his family. He loved to entertain and barbeque but his grandmother Lulu's fried chicken with pan gravy was absolutely his favorite meal. Bob co-founded Providea, Inc. a leading global provider of video conferencing collaboration and telepresence technology solutions in 1999. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Providea and grew the company from a start-up with twelve employees to a nationwide company generating $35 million in revenues with 55 employees at his retirement from the Company in June 2008. Bob co-founded View Tech in 1992 and served as a director and Chief Executive Officer since View Techs inception. From 1992 until January 1997, Bob also served as the company's chairman. Bob brought View Tech public on the NASDAQ stock market with the successful completion of its initial public offering in June 1995. During his five- year tenure at View Tech, Bob led the company from start-up to a $60M annual revenue leader in its category. Bob left the company in 1998. From 1977 to December 1991, he was Executive Vice President of Delphi Information Systems, Inc., a provider of data processing systems for the distribution portion of the property and casualty insurance industry. During his 14 years with Delphi, the firm grew from $100,000 in annual revenues and six employees, to $50,000,000 in annual Revenues and 350 employees. Bob was a hands-on employer proud of his co-workers and enjoyed watching their growth and shared their joy in accomplishments both in business and personally. Bob is survived by his spouse Kathy of almost 40 years and their children Kristin Hatfield and Ryan Hatfield both of La Quinta, step sisters Carole Rodgers of Paso Robles, and Kay Dunaway of La Center, Washington, half sister Colette Fisher, half brothers Jim Hammon, Bill Hammon and Don Hammon of Washington. Bob has one grandchild, Chandler Hatfield and many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at 12:00 noon at San Gabriel Country Club, San Gabriel. Memorials may be made to the City of Hope, Duarte, Calif. The family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Twardowski M.D. and Pam Tryon N.P. of the City of Hope Oncology Department and to the doctors and staff of Community Memorial Hospital of Ventura all of whom worked tirelessly to extend life and ensure comfort.
