Robert E. Roman Sr.

1936 - 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert E. Roman, Sr., known to his friends as "Bob," announces his passing away on November 17, 2017, at the age of 81 years.

Bob died peacefully at home in Indio after a six-year battle with cancer. He never complained, and kept active until the very end, with his sense of humor and spirit intact.

Bob was born in Indio in 1936 to Henry Marvin Roman and Rosita T. Roman (née Parr), and grew up on the Goodspeed Ranch on Avenue 50 in Indio, now the site of the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals. He attended Coachella Valley High School until 1954, and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 through 1957. Bob lived in Indio for most of his life, where he owned and operated Roman's Heating & Air Conditioning from 1970 to 2007, with a reputation for honesty, integrity and hard work. Following his retirement in 2007, he spent several relaxing summers at his second home at Trails End above Garner Valley, where his brother, Daniel H. Roman still lives year-round.

Bob is survived by his wife Margaret; sons Joseph A. Roman, Robert E. Roman, Jr., and Daniel S. Roman; brother Daniel H. Roman; sisters Della L. Burden of Tempe, Arizona and Thelma Jean Lewis of Everson, Washington; his beloved granddaughter Genevieve Christine and his grandson Norman Daniel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Hank and Ralph Roman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ciro's Italian Pizzeria & Ristorante in Indio on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
