Russell Compton Obituary

Dr. Russell Frederick Compton, 89, of Palm Desert, Calif. passed away February 8, 2011 after a long battle with Parkinson' disease. He was born March 26, 1921 to Russell and Kathryn Compton in Chicago, Ill. and served in the U.S. Army from September 1942 through November 1946 as a Sgt. He married Ruth Jacobs on August 8, 1953 in Denver, Colo. Dr. Compton was an Orthopedic Surgeon for 50 years and was USC Medical Center's Assistant Professor of Surgery. He was a member of the American Medical Assoc., California Medical Assoc., Alumni Assoc. of the Mayo Foundation, Western Orthopedic Assoc., American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and also, President of Pasadena Medical Assoc. Dr. Compton is survived by his wife, Ruth Compton of Palm Desert; daughters, Dianne Moats of Pine, Colo. and Joan Haydock of Louisville, Colo.; sons, Russell Compton of Beaumont, Calif. and Robert Compton of Leucadia, Calif.; sister, Mary Kay Arnold of Oak Lawn, Ill.; brother, Richard Compton of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 14, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert. Interment will be held March 25, 2011 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Parkinson's Resource Organization in Palm Desert or supports.pdf.org/RussellFCompton.
