Ruth S. Esko, ASID, b. October 31, 1921, passed away February 9, 2015 in Palm Desert, California. Ruth was born in Rogers City, Michigan, the daughter of Samuel and Essie Salomon. She attended the University of Michigan and the Traphagan School of Fashion in New York. She met her late husband Sheldon R. Esko during WWII, they kissed, and spent the next 70 years together. They lived many years in Chicago and Wilmette, IL, where Ruth put her design skills to test in her home and in business. Retirement drew them to the sunshine in Palm Desert, CA. She is survived by her sons Steven (m. Angie Mendez Esko) of Sacramento and Jeffrey (m. Audrey Suffrin Esko) of San Diego, three grandchildren Erin, Daniel (m. Sun Jung Kim Esko) and Anna Esko, a new beautiful great granddaughter Maya Esko, and her nephew Paul Salomon. Ruth was the consummate designer, gourmet cook, full of energy, a free spirit. Funeral services were at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City on Thursday, February 12 at 9:00 am.
