Sondra Rubin Obituary

Sondra "Sandy" (Flangel) Rubin, 76, of Del Webb Palm Desert, died on August 26, 2008 at home after battling cancer. Her husband of 47 years, Elliott Rubin, double bronze star Korean War veteran, passed away in January 2003. She was the loving mother to one son, Bruce Rubin (and wife Dawn) of Newhall, CA; and two daughters, Dianne Norkin (and husband Barry) of Saugus, CA, and Jill Myers (and partner Joel Goldsmith) of Shrewsbury MA. She leaves four granddaughters, Casey Rubin, Jenna Rubin, Ellyssa Norkin and Laura Norkin. Graduates of Fairfax High, Sondra and her husband were successful owners of women's shoes stores in Woodland Hills and Marina Del Rey before retiring to Del Webb. She enjoyed mah-jong, dancing, and traveling. She was very social and enjoyed living in the moment and sharing time with her family, many friends, and companion, Bob Ramsey. Services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Del Webb Community Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to cancer charity of choice or enjoy a special night with close friends and family.
