Sven Larson, a long-time resident of Indian Wells, CA passed away on Feb. 20, 2017, after a brief illness. He was 89. Sven was born October 2, 1927 in Vasteras, Sweden, to parents Knut and Ingrid Larsson. He was raised with 2 brothers, Bertil and David, and 2 sisters, Martha and Gunilla. Sven moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1949 at the age of 22. He married in 1950 and served in the Army from Jan. 1951 to Oct. 1952, much of that time spent in Korea driving a tank during the war. He became a United States citizen on Jan. 23, 1953. Sven had 3 children, Marilyn, Steven, and Kevin. He worked as a Painting Contractor and retired in 1997. Both Steven and Kevin worked with their father for many years. Son Steven passed away in 2012. Sven was also in business with his brother, David Larson, for many years before David became a General Contractor. Sven and David remained close, both residing in Indian Wells. David and his wife, Donna, had Sven over for many wonderful dinners throughout the years. Sven loved water skiing, motorcycle riding, and playing golf. In his senior years he loved watching sports on TV, especially golf and tennis. Another favorite activity was dining at Cactus Jack's with friends and family. Sven is also survived by two grandchildren, Garrett and Lindsey, daughters-in-law Diane and Carol, and former wife, Corinne. Private services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
