William Dalbey Obituary

William Blair Dalbey, 85, of La Quinta, CA made his transition on April 24, 2008. He was born February 14, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA, to Abner L. Dalbey and "Joan" Hilda Blair Dalbey. He served in the Navy from WWII on the destroyer USS Hunt 674 in the South Pacific with the 3rd and 5th fleets from 1942 to 1946 through 13 battles. In 1953 he graduated from Loyola School of Law in Los Angeles and was admitted to the California and Federal Bars. He had his own law office until joining the firm of McLaughlin and Evans in 1963. The firm became Evans, Dalbey, Cumming and Malter having offices in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, San Diego, Ventura, Pomona and San Luis Obispo, specializing in Workers Compensation and Longshoreman Law. He was a Workers Compensation Judge Pro Tem, President of the Workers Compensation Defense Bar and Arbitration Judge in the Indio Courts. He retired from the firm in 1987 and did pro bono work thereafter. Bill was an avid golfer, having belonged to Yorba Linda Country Club where he served on the Governing Board and PGA West Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; son Edward W. Dalbey; daughter Erin B. Dalbey and stepchildren M. Scott Vincent, Michelle Johnston, David Vincent and two grand- children, Daniel and Jacob Johnston. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn Cathedral City. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the Eisenhower Medical Center or charity of your choice. Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.
