William Munselle Obituary

William Guy Munselle

June 4, 2016

William Guy Munselle (67), known to everyone as Guy, greeted everyone he met by saying, "How the hell are you?", quietly passed away June 4, 2016, at his home in Palm Desert after a 3 ½ year bout with cancer.

Guy had a fantastic smile and enjoyed life, loved to laugh, always had a story to tell, and was on his way to becoming an accomplished pool player.

Guy was an avid golfer, and an excellent target shooter. He especially enjoyed golf with his buddies, "Broll's Boys" at Indian Ridge CC.

His friends were always referred to as "Dude" until he created his own name for them, otherwise known as a "Guyism."

He loved his Diet Coke and Fox News but hated it if anyone touched his coffee maker. His way was the only way to make the coffee.

Guy was born in Los Angeles, CA, raised in Orange County, graduated Rancho Los Alamitos High School in Garden Grove and earned his BS in accounting at Cal State Northridge in 1974. He then moved to Dallas, TX to work for Arthur Anderson & Co. but he missed California so moved back to LA where he worked in key financial positions for several companies including J.W. Robinson's Department Store, Spring Aire Manufacturing and Howard Shultz & Associates.

He met his wife Terri at Robinson's. After dating for 3 weeks they got engaged and, to the amusement of their friends, went on to be happily married for 33 years.

In 1998, Guy and Terri became real estate agents in the desert and developed a flourishing business making many great friends along the way. Guy was always appreciated for his quick wit and for being a loyal and honest friend. Because he was a devoted animal lover, their home always had an assortment of dogs underfoot and around the house.

Guy learned about his illness in 2012, but maintained a positive spirit even as he retreated from the real estate world in order to make his surgeries and treatments his full time job. He never once complained as he organized his tedious medical schedule to maximize time to travel and truly live the time he had left. Guy loved to travel, anywhere and everywhere. He especially loved London and Prague, and cruises to harder-to-find places like Greenland.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents George and Henriette Munselle. Survivors include his wife Terri Munselle of Palm Desert, son Guy Jr. of Corona, brother Ted Munselle (Gaye) of Richardson, TX and sister Denise Munselle Barnes (Ronnie) of Burleson, TX.

Special thanks go to Guy's caring team who helped him have extra time with us: Dr. Davood Vafai and nurse Lynne Malestic, Dr. Robert Johnson and nurse Dixie and Dr. Farhad Limonati. In addition, he received great care for more than 3 months from Visiting Angels: JR, Melvin, Salvador and Roberto.

A private memorial service will be held in August in Newport Beach, CA. Memorial tributes can be made to an organization in which Guy deeply believed and where he was an original volunteer: C.A.N. Low Cost Spay and Neuter in the Desert: www.dogangel.org

Guy Munselle was a very special person and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Your smile will always be remembered , your kindness and your love for animals.

I will always remember when you adopted my rescue Lil Doug and Sweet Pea
and oh how lucky these little critters were living in your home. Sweet Pea
had a larger wardrobe than I did. Your doggies were your children, you and Teri were always willing to network my rescues with your circle of friends, I thank you for that. You will be missed, you were loved and made your mark in this world.

God will take care of you now, and we will take care of Teri

Dear Guy,
Hey Dude, you left too darn soon!!! I miss your incandescent smile and your funny jokes, even the stupid ones. Now that you are gone who is going to drive the Martinimobile? Did you think about that? I am really pissed that you aren't here to talk to Bill about basketball or to argue about politics. It didn't matter that you were on the other side of the political fence you still understood basic rights and wrongs.
Sometimes life really sucks and good friends leave. It was great to know you for 14 years. It should have been longer.

Miss you!
Carolyn

Wanted the family to know how much we have enjoyed Guy in the 12 years we lived at Indian Ridge Country Club and in the past few years we remained IRCC members and the JOY of seeing him at the club knowing the struggles he was going through...... The peaceful feeling knowing he is free from his pain and in that place he dreamed to be.......To Terri our deepest sympathies and prayers for strength to find your new norm without him......Don't forget your friends are just a call away....... Deepest Sympathies, Harry and Nancy

My thoughts and prayers go out to Terri and the family. I had only met Guy once when we sat with the two of you at a Gen Blue convention in Palm Desert a few years ago. I had known who you two were since we also owned a second home in the desert and I made it a point to know who the top Realtors were in the desert. I am so very sorry for your loss. He had a great reputation and I remember how kind he was to me at the Gen Blue event. God bless.
