I worked at Sta-Lube, Inc from 1979 to 1994. I ended up coming back to work as an Independent Contractor for another couple of years after I left. I thought the world of Bill and like Arvin Collins, I had the utmost respect for him as well... I admit, I was intimidated by him (when I first started working at Sta-Lube) especially when I had to take A/P checks in for him to sign but as time went on I figured out that he was just a regular good guy- a husband, a father not just the President of Sta-Lube. For a time, I worked as Receptionist/Switchboard and I know for a fact that Bill was happy I was the first person that customers and vendors talked to as he told me. I went through a lot while at Sta-Lube - as my mother was very sick back in 1992. I got a lot of support from Bill and the rest of the company and I will ALWAYS appreciate that. I was 25 when I started working at Sta-Lube and I will always be forever grateful to the Stabler's as I learned so much. Sta-Lube was a great place to work as we had great leaders...I know I am late coming in here to sign this but to Lauren and Randy - I am so very sorry for your loss. Your dad was one of the good guys - I am also sorry to hear about Bobbie's passing as well.
