Her unwavering faith in God and the friends and family who loved her are a tribute to the incredible life she lived. Bertha, the name she went by all her life, was born on June 6, 1944 to Apolonio and Dolores Hernandez in Millican. She has lived in Bryan since 1960, when she met and married the only man she ever loved, Mr. Jesse R. Flores Sr. When asked her occupation, Bertha would say homemaker and she was the top of the line in that profession. Her hobbies included going to yard sales and resale shops looking for antiques, playing all sorts of games, buying scratchoffs, dancing, drinking her coffee and cooking for her family. Bertha will always be remembered for her whole-hearted laugh and would often laugh until she cried. Her door was always open and she blessed so many people with her loving hands.
In Heaven she joins her parents; four children and one grandchild. Those left to cherish Bertha's memory are her husband of 54 years, Jesse R. Flores Sr.; sons, Jesse Flores Jr., Daniel and Melissa Flores, Pete Flores and Ishmael and Gabriella Flores, all of Bryan; daughters, Sandra A. Gonzalez, Elizabeth A. and Lubin Hernandez, Veronica and Leon Alvarado, Linda Flores, Rose Marie and Paul Garcia, Esther J. Sustaita, all of Bryan and Dalores and James V. Eure of Early; 34 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bertha also leaves behind four brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank Jessica M. Alvarado for her love and devotion to her grandmother.
