Christopher Owens Obituary

April 9, 1990 – March 12, 2010

Christopher Warren Owens, 19, of Bryan passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A gathering of the family and friends will from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Hillier Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Church of the Nazarene in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Brother Lonnie Green will officiate.

Chris was born on April 9, 1990, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. At a very early age, around four years, Chris stated he wanted to be a paleontologist and so began a lifelong love of learning. He learned all the dinosaur names so that on family camping trips to Dinosaur State Park, he could look for tracks.

Chris had a passion for helping and serving others. At the age of 10, Chris traveled with his family on a mission trip to Saltillo, Mexico, where he was able to set up a street soccer game within 20 minutes of arriving, even though he couldn't speak the language. He worked with his family every Christmas season to wrap present for local needy kids and always went on the Brazos de Dios Harley Owners Group ToyRun to deliver them. His friends always said that if you ever needed anything, you could count on Chris to help you.

Chris graduated from Bryan High School in 2008, where he enjoyed competing at the state level USA Skills competition in motorcycle repair.

Chris loved life and enjoyed making people smile; within 10 minutes of entering a room Chris knew everyone and everyone knew Chris. He always said he had four passions in life: his love for his God and his salvation through Jesus Christ; his love for his family; his love for his friends and his love for his motorcycle and riding it. Chris was a student at Blinn with plans to transfer to Texas A&M University and major in business so he could open his own motorcycle shop.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Ouida Owens.

Survivors include his parents, Leo and Cyndi Owens; sister, Lauren Owens; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Ellen Warren; aunts and uncles, Cheryl and Duane Clark, Theresa and Michael Warren, Aliene and Brent Bodholt and Gerald Owens; cousins, Caitlyn, Jonathan and Joshua Clark, Cynthia Walker, Jeremy Anderson and Katy and Jarrod Owens; and many beloved friends.
