Clark Gandy Obituary

Gandy, Clark

Jul 20, 1952 - Jul 14, 2024

In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 14, 2024, Heaven was made richer when Clark Gandy stepped onto the streets of gold to meet his Savior face to face. After eighteen and a half years of living with cancer and its effects, he is completely well and at peace.

Clark was born on July 20, 1952, in Athens, Texas, but grew up in Dallas, graduating from Bryan Admas High School, Clark met the love of his life, Susan Morgan, while both were working at Dr Pepper Company in Dallas. They were blessed with two children, Jason and Kim.

After a four year stent in the Air Force, Clark and Susan chose Bryan as their home. Clark was a skilled mechanical contractor and in 1988, he was a founding partner in Garrett Mechanical, Inc. In the industry, Clark had a reputation as a wise and honest contractor and was greatly admired for his work ethics and integrity. As an extension of his career, Clark served over thirty years on the Brazos Valley Workforce Solutions Board.

While quite proud of his company's success, Clark's greatest pride was his family. His focus was providing a good life for them. He took great joy in his role as "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren – Aaron and Chase Gandy and Blaire and Hunter Mathis. Through the years, Clark enjoyed memory-making times with his family and friend at their farm and their lake house. Being the hard-working man that he was, Clark always had a project going. Hunting and fishing brought him joy, particularly if his kids and grandkids were with him.

With his quiet, calm manner, Clark established a reputation as a good man, a man of integrity. People witnessed him living his faith in Christ and walking courageously through health challenges, never allowing the disease to define him. Instead, he became a testimony of faith and courage. The one thing that Clark would want to convey to people is that his strength and courage came from God. Clark knew that God was leading him every step of the way and covered him with His love and grace.

Clark is preceded in death by his father, Clifton Gandy; and two nieces, Kristi and Jennifer.

Clark will be forever loved and cherished by his wife; his son; his daughter; and his son-in-law; and four grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Rose Gandy; his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Janice Gandy; his sister Diane Gandy-Sisler; and nieces and nephews that were dear to him.

Services for Clark will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, in the College Center at First Baptist Church, Bryan. A brief visitation will immediately follow. A family graveside service will precede the memorial service at Kurten Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "A Closer Walk Fund" of First Baptist Church, 3100 Cambrdge Drive, Bryan, Texas 77802, or to the "Gary Sinese Foundation" at P.O. Box 40726, Nashville, TN 37204.
