Dale Dodson Obituary
Dale Sherman Dodson
July 19, 1951 - May 19, 2023
Dale Sherman Dodson, age 71, passed away on May 19, 2023, in Temple, Texas. He was born on July 19, 1951, in San Pedro, California, to Charles Sydney Dodson and Gloria Helene Lepire Dodson. Dale was raised in San Pedro, California, and graduated from Carson City High School in 1968.
Dale served as a Security Specialist in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973, ending his service as a Sergeant.
Dale married Mary Dodson in 1978 and the couple had three children. Dale worked in a variety of industries, most notably for the Burlington North Railroad as a foreman for several years before working at Central Electrical Supply, where he worked for 30 years - first as a warehouse foreman, then as a purchasing agent. In retirement, Dale served as the Vice President of the community at Crestview Terrace where he spent his final years.
Dale exemplified living life to the fullest. He was the life of the party and the first to the dance floor, which was often the middle of the living room, surrounded by his family and his favorite music. Dale was generous and kind, unless you were his opponent in a game of dominos or horseshoes, in which case - good luck! Dale had a competitive streak and would never turn down a game. He loved to draw, was an avid reader and kept a daily journal, of which many of the entries expressed his love for his family and friends. Dale was a nature enthusiast, gardener, animal lover and the family handyman. Dale never met a stranger and was the kind of man that would drop everything to help those in need. Dale's family will remember him by the example he led, living his values of empathy, loyalty, honesty, and a strong work ethic.
Dale was preceded in death by his grandmother, Eula Mae Dodson; father, Charles Sydney Dodson; mother, Gloria Helene Lepire Dodson; stepfather, Vito Benedetto; and brother, Jimmy Lee Benedetto.
His beautiful life will be cherished in the lives of his long-time spouse and forever friend, Mary Dodson; daughter, Misti Chapman and husband, Eric; son, John Dodson and wife, Sarah; and son, Christopher Dodson; granddaughters, Danielle and Evelyn; sister, Sandy Wilkinson and husband, John; brother, Allen Dodson and wife, Rose; sister, Mary Dice and husband, Tim; and sister-in-law, Kristine Benedetto; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dale will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
