Doinan LaVelle Kavanaugh, 72, of College Station, passed away on Sunday, December 9, at Scott & White Hospital – College Station. Visiting hours for Doinan's family to receive guests at the funeral home will be Wednesday, December 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. Interment will follow in College Station City Cemetery on Texas Ave. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
Doinan was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Wilbur T. and Dorothy Inez Wilder LaVelle. She is a graduate of A&M Consolidated High School, Class of 1959. She was retired from Texas A&M.
Doinan's name has a unique origin, as it is a combination of her mother and both grandmothers' names: Dorothy, Inez and Anne. She enjoyed needlepoint, her little dog, Sugar, and keeping up with friends which included a regular weekly luncheon with a group of ladies – some she's known since high school.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, and her husband Billy Ray Kavanaugh.
Her survivors include her sons, Dwayne and wife Vicki Kavanaugh, of Spring, Texas, Ross and wife Kelley Kavanaugh, and Ray Kavanaugh, all of College Station; her grandchildren, Brian, Jeff, Jacob, Kyle, Kaleigh, Korra, Kate and Sara; and great-grandson, Cole; and her brothers, Doug LaVelle and David LaVelle.
