Elizabeth Dove Obituary

September 22, 1950 - June 7, 2014

Elizabeth K. Dove, 63, of Bryan passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday, June 13, at Jones-Washington Mortuary. Services are set 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14 2014 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. C.L. king, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Elizabeth K. Dove was born September 22, 1950 in Bryan, Texas to Joseph and Elizabeth Dove. She graduated from Kemp High School and she was a registered nurse. She was an active member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and sang in the Mass Choir, she enjoyed reading, taking care of patients and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Sylvester Dove, Sr., Joseph Dove, Jr.; and a sister, Lillie A. Dove.

Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Tanya Dove of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son, Anthony Dove and wife Wanda; brothers, Charles Dove of Bryan, Jessie and Sharon Dove of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Margaret and Clinton Lewis of Lawton, Okla., Maggie William of Dallas, Sylvia Gordan and Robert of Bryan, Beulah Graham of Houston, Freddie and Oliver Scott of Texas City, Barbara and Eddis Young of Bryan, Dorothy and Ernest Phillips of Bryan, Tracy and Brent Thomas of Austin; grandchildren, Kiarra Dove, Gloria Curry.

The family extends special thanks to St. Joseph Regional Rehab Center, the doctors and staff and St. David's Medical Center for their compassionate care.

Excerpts from her Certificate of Congressional Recognition;

WHEREAS, The United States Congress joins The Dove Family and Mt. Nebo in recognition of Elizabeth Ruth Dove as a "Mother of Zion", for her dedication strength and servant hood for her family, mankind and the Body of Christ. Elizabeth Dove's love and compassion brings a tangible change in the lives of all who have the pleasure of encountering her presence and;

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Ruth Dove was born September 22, 1950 to Joseph and Elizabeth Dove, she was the eight child of fourteen. Ms. Dove was raised in a Christian home and attended United Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Green before he established Greater Faith Church where she also attended and;

WHEREAS, Ms. Elizabeth Dove graduated in 1969 from Kemp High School, then attended Prairie View A&M University. Ms. Dove later obtained her nursing degree from Alvin College. Ms. Dove has been serving humanity as a nurse for 33 years. Three years of servant hood was contributed to M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas and thirty years where she currently serves as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She worked in the medical unit for two years before going to the cardiac unit for heart patients. Her exceptional servant hood was soon recognized by her superiors and coworkers, and she was soon elevated to serve as the head nurse at St. Joseph Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Dove has had many peaks and valleys but has continued to persevere and weather every storm with spirit of excellence. She has been beaten all odds of the statistics of a single parent and raised her children without outside aid. She is the proud mother of Dr. Tanya Dove and Anthony Dove who blessed her with two lovely grandchildren, Kiarra and Tiarra Curry. She continues to be an example for young mothers and is the example of the living Word as a Proverbs 31 Woman according to Proverbs 31:10-31; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Dove currently attends Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas under the anointed leadership of Pastor C.L. King and Pastor Patsy King. She serves on the Pastors aid committee and as an alto in her church choir. Ms. Dove is a true example of endurance and strength for future generations; and.
