Ellen Teetes Obituary

Watson Teetes, Ellen

May 29, 1941 - Feb 1, 2025

Ellen Watson Teetes, age 83, passed away peacefully at Baylor Scott and White hospital in College Station, TX after a brief illness. She was born on May 29,1941 in Goose Creek, TX to Leon and Olga Trenckmann.

As a small child, she moved to Bryan, TX with her family when her father was transferred by Humble Oil and Refining Co. Ellen attended Stephen F. Austin high school, graduating in 1959. Ellen was previously married to Jerry W. Watson and they had three sons, Cole Watson, Mike Watson and John Watson. She later married George L. Teetes who also had three sons, George R. Teetes, Derek Tyson and Darin Teetes. Ellen and George spent the last 35 years happily together where they cherished spending time with their growing family and many of their dear friends. Ellen was known lovingly by those closest to her as O'mama, which she will be fondly remembered by her 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Ellen was the matriarch of the entire Watson family, which she was often called upon to provide loving guidance and steady advice. She was a loving and strong-willed woman. If you did not know Ellen's opinion on something you quickly learned what her viewpoint was on many topics.

Ellen completed two years of college studies at The University of Texas (tu). She was proud to spend her career as Ticket Manager for The 12th Man Foundation, f/k/a The Aggie Club, where she was greatly adored and respected. She happily retired in 2000.

Ellen had many friends which she adored, and they loved her. But none of us were loved any more than she loved her dogs, Blaze, Tessa, Callie, Penny and Shiner. She spoiled them and typically overfed them.

Ellen was a long-time member of A&M United Methodist Church. She loved the church and the pastors and loved to sing, although she couldn't carry a tune in a basket. She loved attending Texas A&M football games, travel and country-western dance, which she and George did often.

In 1994 she and George bought a small cabin at Camp Creek Lake. For the past 30 years, they spent many wonderful holidays and summer days hosting family and friends at their beloved cabin. Before retirement, every Friday the dogs were gathered up and Ellen and George would spend their weekends at the lake.

Ellen and George had many wonderful and loving years together and she will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Olga Trenckmann and brother, Leon Trenckmann Jr. and his wife Marjorie.

The visitation will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hillier Funeral Home & Cremations in College Station, Texas. Services and a Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hillier Funeral Home, followed by a family burial at College Station Cemetery.

I had the pleasure of working with Ellen at the 12th Man Foundation for a couple of years, and always enjoyed my conversations with her. She was so spirited and happy to visit. I can hear her voice now. My condolences to Ellen's family.

Ellen was a close friend of my sister, Kay Hart Kovacs. My ex-husband was a Junction Boy and he loved visiting with Ellen when he went into the ticket office. Ellen had a delightful sense of humor and was always so attractive. She loved her time at Camp Creek with George and dogs.
