Eugene Edge, 80, of Bryan, passed away on Saturday, January 10 in Bryan. Eugene had arranged for his body to be given to the Texas A&M Health Science Center for continuing medical research. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory. No public service is scheduled at this time.
Eugene was born to Charles and Laura James Edge in Bryan, Texas. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epislon Fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons the Republic of Texas, Sons the Confederate Veterans, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bryan. He served in the military from 1955-57 in Brunswick, Georgia. He served in partnership with his father Charles Edge of Edge's Dry Good Stores for two years. He was an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University for English. He also served as a professor for Sam Houston State University from 1967-1996.
His survivors include his sisters Gail Edge Alpert, of Dallas, Mary James Edge, of Bryan; his nephews Christopher Alpert and Robert Alpert; his niece Laura Alpert.
Memorials maybe made the Brazos Valley Hospice, Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Brazos Museum of Natural History, and BISD Education Foundation Scholarship Fund.
