Gloria Bernal

March 23, 1939 - April 23, 2010

Gloria Bernal, 71, of Dallas, formerly of Bryan, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 26, with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home.

Gloria was born on March 23, 1939 in Brazos County, Texas to Sam and Lupe Borjas Bernal. Miss Gloria was always perfectly dressed from head to toe even if it was to work around the house; she loved to wear her bling bling.

She liked to tend to the neighborhood kids after school every day and she always had snacks prepared for them to eat. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother and friend.

She will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father Sam Bernal Sr. and one son Sam Bernal Jr.

Survivors include her mother, Lupe Borjas Bernal, five sons and three daughters-in-law, Joe and Maria Martinez, Jessie Martinez, Robert and Dora Martinez, Paul and Juana Martinez, and Joe Lewis Rocha; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and John Maldonado, Susie and Richard Salazar, Sally Martinez and Brenda and Albert Granillo; one brother, Richard Bernal; three sisters, Marie Salinas, Molly Sullivan, Sally Castañeda, and Margaret Bernal; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are in the care of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home of Bryan.
