James Melvin Ayers

January 2, 1938 - July 27, 2022

Mr. James Melvin Ayers was born on January 2, 1938 to Mr. James M. Ayers and Elva Ayers.

Services for James Ayers, of Houston, Texas are set for Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11 am at Goodwill Baptist Church in Caldwell, Texas. Interment will be held immediately after services at Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 7 pm on Friday, August 5, at Daniel & Son Funeral Home of Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katherine Garrett Ayers; one sister, Doretha K. Ayers Harris; one stepdaughter, Leazer Claudia Garrett; and one stepson, Henry Garrett.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Darrell J. Ayers of Plainview, TX; three sisters, Helen Walker of Bryan, TX, Hazel Randle (John), and Alma Cotton (Craig), all of Austin, TX; one brother, John Ayers (Tanya) of Bryan, TX; two stepdaughters, Betty Garrett and Brenda Garrett Nelma (William) of Houston, TX; two stepsons; Jimmy Garrett Sr. (Patricia), and Cermas Garrett (Jennifer) all of Houston, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
