James Liner Obituary
James H. "Bubba" Liner
April 12, 1949 - August 5, 2023
James Harold Liner, 74, of North Zulch, Texas, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, while in hospice care at his home. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
James was born on April 12, 1949, in Midland, TX to father, Howard Lee Liner, and mother, Hazel Victoria (Smith). He grew up in a large, loving family with two brothers and two sisters. Upon leaving high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country with honor and valor aboard the USS Tappahannock.
During his years of service, James demonstrated remarkable leadership skills and a strong sense of duty as he served in Vietnam. His commendable service earned him the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Beyond his military service, James had a deep passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. The thrill of the open road and the camaraderie he found among riders that were family and friends brought immense joy to his life. He had an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore new roads on his Harley.
Bubba, as he was known to his family and close friends, was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he was also known for his warm-heartedness and the love he had for his family. He had a compassionate nature that touched the lives of many. He will forever be remembered for the legacy that he leaves behind and his love for motorcycles will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he may no longer ride the open roads of this earth, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us from above where he no doubt rode a Harley through Heaven's gate and rejoiced with those who passed before him.
James is survived by his sister, Gay L. Glover, of Bryan, TX; and brother, Gene Liner (Denise), of Houston, TX; along with many adored nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and his beloved pit bull, "Lady." He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and fellow riders, all of whom will cherish the memories shared with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Hazel; a brother, Billy Robert Liner; and two sisters, Linda May Liner and Twellia Liner Moore.
A funeral service will be held for James on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 S College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. As a Military veteran, James will receive military honors and interment will be at Bryan City Cemetery.
There are no words that can express how grateful the family is to the Hospice team at Enhabit for their compassionate care given to James and to the family during his short time in Hospice.
