Jennifer Drost Obituary

September 17, 1977 – October 15, 2008

Jennifer Lynn Drost, 31, of Fort Worth passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. A memorial service in her honor is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at Hillier Funeral Home.

Jennifer was born on September 17, 1977, at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D.
The daughter of an Air Force pilot, she lived in eight states before moving to College Station to attend Texas A&M University.

She was a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 1999 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry.

Before her death, she worked as a quality control chemist at Ricca Chemical Company in Arlington, Texas.

From an early age, Jennifer developed an avid interest in science. While attending high school in Indiana, she competed in an international science fair and participated in summer research programs at the university level. In college, she further developed her passion for scientific research while enjoying other interests, including reading classic literature, traveling, solving logic puzzles and watching Aggie baseball.

As a student, she played rugby and participated in Bonfire, Big Event and Replant. A member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in College Station, she possessed a firm faith in God, delighting in the beauty of His creation, and recognizing that beauty in everything she saw. Professionally, she was a gifted chemist and consummate perfectionist who reveled in the precision of scientific research.

Jennifer reserved a special love for abandoned animals, but it was the human relationships in her life she treasured most deeply. An unfailingly loyal friend, she gave freely of herself to all who knew her, and shared a particularly deep and unique bond with her identical twin sister. Those who loved her entrust her soul to God's loving embrace while forever cherishing the beautiful moments she brought to their lives.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, retired Major John and Jane Ellis.

Survivors include her parents, retired Lt. Col. Gary and Marcia Drost; brother and sister-in-law, Major Michael and Katy Drost; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Tracy and Stephen Mead; nieces and nephew, Elizabeth and Mary Cecile Drost and Samantha and Christopher Mead; grandparents, retired Col. John and Mary "Reecie" Drost; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the giver's local animal shelter or the SPCA.
