Jerry Lee Obituary

On June 3, 2022, Jerry Lynn Campbell Lee, of Madisonville, Texas, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 85.
She was born May 31, 1937, in Houston, Texas to Iva and Thomas Lynn Campbell. She had two sisters, Peggy and Gloria, and she constantly played tricks and pranks on them when they were growing up. Jerry was a CODA and American Sign Language was her first language. As a Texas Certified Interpreter, Jerry was passionate about the rights of deaf individuals in the Texas Department of Corrections where she worked for over 30 years.
Jerry married Frank Virgil Lee in April 1956 and had three children - David, Allen and Tina. She is survived by her sister, Gloria; her children & their spouses Minnie, Peggy and Brian; grandchildren, David and Rosalyn and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Cameron and Evelyn. In addition, she was loved by her nieces and nephews, extended family and a multitude of friends and coworkers.
Jerry was an entrepreneur as a young woman at a time where women-owned businesses were rare. She fully owned or was part-owner in a day care center, a Mexican food franchise, a movie theater, an arcade and teen dance club called the Krazy Kat and an interpreting business. Jerry was known to help out those in need and several of her children's' friends lived with her family during troubled times. Her door was always open, and friends often dropped by unannounced and always welcomed to share their worries or a laugh. Her infectious laughter and "I Love You" sign will be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bluebird Haven Estates event venue in Madisonville, Texas at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25th with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Texas School for the Deaf, Superintendent's Office at 1102 S. Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704.
