Jimmy Ryan Obituary

May 12, 1937 – April 21, 2013

Jimmy Ryan, 75, of Bryan, passed away Sunday morning, April 21, 2013 at his residence.

His family will receive friends during a visitation from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Joel Withem officiating. Interment will follow at the New Tabor Cemetery.

Jim was born May 12, 1937 in Dime Box, Texas, to Willie Ryan and Lydia Hejl Owens. He married his loving wife, Frances Ryan on March 27, 1982. Jim was a member of the Brazos Valley Family Worship Center, and was also a member of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. One of Jim's favorite hobbies was working out at Aerofit, which he made a daily routine with his wife, Frances.

Following his first job as a prison guard for the Texas Department of Corrections, Jim went on to work for the Bryan Fire Department, where he would eventually retire after almost 30 years of serving the communities of Bryan and College Station. After retiring from the Bryan Fire Department, Jim became a staff member at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home for another 28 years of dedicated service where he truly enjoyed assisting on funerals and serving families by driving the limousine and making night calls.

Jim was preceded in death by his stepson, Thomas Leroy Sonnier; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Frances Ryan; stepsons, Michael Ray Sonnier, Rene Wayne Sonnier; brother, Johnny Owens; and sister, Betty Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Brazos Valley Family Worship Center at 4839 N. Texas Ave., Bryan, TX 77803.
