Johnny Akers Obituary
Johnny Read Akers, 66, of Bryan passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, after a year-long battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at Hillier Funeral Home. Graveside services are set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, at Rest-Ever Memorial Park.
Johnny was born on April 24, 1943, in Karma, Okla., to John and Mary (Baker) Akers. He moved to Bryan in 2000 from Lewisville, Texas. He worked at Four Corners Market in Bryan for more than seven years, until he retired in April 2008. Johnny loved to fish and play golf, and working in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Akers, and two brothers.
Johnny is survived by his Brazos Valley family, Gail, Christie, Rusty, Ashley, James, Janie and Dillon, and his beloved pets, Bird, Baby Cat and Puss Kitty.
Survivors also include his two daughters, Tonya and Tina and their families, his mother, Mary, and numerous other family members.

Dad even though you had to leave your temerary home, you are at your permanent home with God. Even though we did not get to see each other as much as I would love to, we talked on the phone offten. I Love you so much ❤ and will always remember our special time together. I know you will be catching the big fish. I can't wait to see again in my new home when the good Lord is ready for me

Dad you will be missed. Even though we were not close here I am praying we wiil see each other again in heaven! To his family there just know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for taking care of dad and giving him love!
