Jonathon White Obituary

May 7, 1951 - August 16, 2010

Jonathon "Jon" Dale White, 59, of College Station, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010 at the College Station Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at Hillier Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 20, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service in Bryan City Cemetery.

Jon was born May 7, 1951 in Mattoon, Ill. to Geneva and Herbert White and he grew up in McAllen, Texas, where his family moved to shortly after his birth. He graduated from McAllen High School in 1969. Jon's people skills were appreciated by his customers through his 30 plus year career as a barber in College Station, until his retirement earlier this year. Jon loved to hunt arrowheads, Indian artifacts, fishing, reading, and spending time with people. He always had a way with people to make them feel special.

Survivors include his loving brother, David White and wife, Lynn, of College Station; two cousins, and numerous friends within Bryan/College Station that he was a barber for.

Jon never met a stranger, and was a loving and caring friend.

I was very saddened to get the word this morn, John and I grew up together he was fearless, and full of life hands down the most fun guy I've ever known. Could have easily gone pro in bowling, and several other sports. My life would have been incomplete without Jon's no holds barred influence, we had lost touch a few years back but hardly a week goes by without something reminding me of some crazy stunt we pulled.........what an incredable loss
God speed my dear friend.....Leo Garcia

We feel your loss. We saw Jon last weekend. He walked in the house happy and excited about life. He spent a few minutes visiting and then he was "gone fishing." We were supposed to be out of town but I'm glad we were here instead to share those moments with him for that last picture of him in our minds.
